The extraction of the Prickly Pear fruit is a lengthy and meticulous process. Each seed contains around 5% of oil, subsequently taking around 1,000kg of fruits to extract 25kg of seeds in order to produce one litter of oil.

The processing is manual and mechanical, the steps being, sorting, washing, peeling, separating (pulp, seeds), drying and then cold pressing. The oil is then gently filtered to ensure the high-quality prickly pear seed oil, that contains all active ingredients and beneficial properties of this remarkably nutritive botanical oil, remains.

The oil possesses an astonishingly high percentage (over 80%) of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids with a linoleic acid content of over 62%.
